Types of coffee beans grown in India

In this section, we will discuss the main types of coffee grown in the country.

Arabica

You might have noted that this type of coffee is cultivated in almost all countries in the world. However, Arabica coffee beans grown in India are unique from the rest. Besides the well balanced aroma, these coffee beans boast of a sharp taste together.

Coffee beans in India are picked from November and January. This coffee variety thrives well in high elevated land. Keep in mind that altitudes in India varies from 600 meters to about 1200 meters above sea level. Almost all coffee growing regions in India have high humidity and favorable weather conditions. Remember that coffee needs rich and nutritious soil to thrive accordingly. It is the fertile soil that has favored the growth of Arabica coffee in these regions.

Robusta coffee

When compared to the Arabica coffee variety, the Robusta variety is twice caffeinated. Robusta coffee is characterized by a complex and strong taste. Additionally, the beans are picked in the period between December and early February.

The best thing about Robusta coffee beans is that they will survive any weather condition. They are also resistant to crop diseases and pests. Although Robusta is considered as a low grade when compared to the Arabica variety, you will like the high end of this coffee variety. It is loved by many people because of its strong taste. Another notable thing about Robusta is that they take less time to produce fruits when compared to Arabica.
